SERVICE OPPORTUNITY!
Good Sam Wants YOU!
Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern wants you do Al-Anon service in 3 West!
3 West is the in-patient rehab unit at Good Samaritan Hospital for people with alcohol and/or substance abuse problems. Each Saturday, family and friends visit their loved ones, many of whom have never heard of Al-Anon.
Each Saturday we will hold Introductory Meetings from 1:15-2:00 pm on 3 West. These meetings are mandatory for visitors prior to seeing their loved ones. This is NOT a Beginners' Meeting. It is an introduction to the principles of the Al-Anon/Alateen program for families and friends struggling with a loved one's alcoholism.

Our purpose is to provide basic information and introduce the idea that they too can find help and hope in Al-Anon. We carry the message of Step 12 and it's an opportunity to reach out to potential newcomers as well.
Ideally we need two Al-Anon members to lead the meeting each week and answer questions. Al-Anon literature and a "script" will be available. Click HERE for more information.
Coming in September:
Rockland AA Share A Day
(with Al-Anon participation)
District 29 Al-Anon will be participating in the Rockland AA Share-A-Day on Sunday, September 14 from 9 AM to 5 PM. Last year, we set up a table with Al-Anon literature and had speakers and participants for the Al-Anon meetings, and we hope to do the same this year. We are only in the planning stages, but please start spreading the word to your groups that the following will be needed:
-
People to assist with planning our participation.
-
Speakers (we will let you know how many as soon as we have more information).
-
People to take shifts at the literature table.
-
Al-Anon members to attend!

Those who attended last year had an enjoyable time and helped spread the Al-Anon message to family members of AA members who attended with their loved ones.
See the flyer below and we will send more details as we become aware. If you want to participate, speak with your group representative or email the district at district29alanon@gmail.com.
